Hello there,

Preparing For Retirement

Getting to the point of being retirement ready requires some thought and planning. Especially if you want to achieve the retirement you visualise for yourself.

Research conducted by Industry Super Australia, indicates more than half of Australians will not have enough to retire comfortably and this is a trend they see extending over the next four decades.

But how much is enough and what does a ‘comfortable retirement’ even mean?

To help you understand this, we have conducted a range of research and have endeavoured to break it down in a meaningful way.

Sourcing our data from the National Census and the Australian Super Funds of Australia, our first article explores the national averages for retirement income needs and compares these to the averages from individual capital cities, providing insights on the differences for couples and individuals alike. It provides data break down of typical spending habits and poses a range of questions you should consider, that will make it easier to relate this information to your own personal situation.

Flowing on from this, it seemed natural to focus our second article on superannuation. For most people, it is their biggest retirement asset after all and yet it is regularly misunderstood and/or undervalued.

To help you understand what super options exist and the differences that exist between them our article summarises what super fund options are available in Australia and explores the trends that have occurred to get us where we are today. Also providing insights on how these trends can be viewed as precursors for the future.

We trust you will find value in our newsletter for you this month and as always welcome the opportunity to relate what you learn to your own personal situation.

Have a great day.

From James and the team at Yield.
